Spinal cord & nerve root neuromonitoring during surgery.

A neuromonitoring specialist may attach leads to the body. The leads monitor the muscles for nerve and spinal cord activity. During surgery, any motion or activity of the nerve root is noted on the monitor by depolarization. Audible monitors are also used. Neuromonitoring increases the safety of performing spinal surgery. It is very much the proverbial video in an airplane’s cockpit.
